The Cape Ann Museum's Decorative Arts Collection helps to round out the picture of community life in earlier days.
Included in the Decorative Arts Collection are important 18th and 19th century American furniture; objects obtained in trade with the Far East, Europe and Surinam; Paul Revere silver made for Gloucester’s First Parish Church; and textiles, pewter and glass from area homes of the past.
The Captain Elias Davis House
The Captain Elias Davis House (1804) adjoins the Cape Ann Museum and emphasizes New England domestic life in the early 19th century. It is furnished and decorated with many of the Davis family's personal items.
Folly Cove Designers
The Folly Cove Designers, working in the
mid-20th century, carved elaborate linoleum blocks and used them to make
block prints on textiles and paper. They were, by their own choice,
artists and craftsmen, actively involved in every step of the printing
process. The Cape Ann Museum holds a major archive of their work. |
